Angelina Jolie has revealed new details about her difficult split from Brad Pitt, offering a rare look into one of Hollywood’s most talked-about divorces. In an interview with E! News, the 49-year-old actress discussed the challenging period following her separation from her husband of two years.
Jolie, who portrayed Maria Callas in a biopic, described how the aftermath of the divorce took a heavy toll on her. “I went very dark for reasons Iβd rather not explain, but I didnβt have a lot of light and life within me. I needed to be home more,” she shared, reflecting on those difficult days.
Despite the turmoil, she found solace in her portrayal of Maria Callas, calling the role “the beginning of starting to come alive again.” She also spoke about her newfound appreciation for opera, admitting that she was overwhelmed when she first practiced singing for the role.
In a separate interview with Empire Magazine, Jolie highlighted the accessibility of opera in her film, saying, “Something really cool about the film is that if you don’t know opera, you can go through the entire journey of the film and understand it.”
Jolie and Pitt announced their separation on September 20, 2016, after two years of marriage.
