A$AP Rocky Acknowledges Potential Jail Time

A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, has been accused of assaulting his former friend A$AP Relli, also known as Terell Ephron, with a semiautomatic firearm in November 2021.

On January 21, 2025, the rapper appeared in court in Los Angeles and pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault. Deputy District Attorney Paul Przelomiec informed Judge Mark S. Arnold that a plea deal had been offered to Rocky, which would involve 180 days in jail if he were found guilty of the first assault charge. The deal also proposed three years of probation, 480 hours of community service, and a seven-year suspended sentence, with a possibility of 24 years in total if convicted.

When questioned about the plea agreement, Rocky confirmed that he had discussed the terms but chose to decline the offer. “Yeah, they spoke to me about it in detail, Your Honour. I respectfully decline, thank you,” he said.

Judge Arnold warned Rocky that his celebrity status or his relationship with singer Rihanna would not affect the legal process. “You are not going to get any special treatment,” the judge stated. Rocky acknowledged that he was aware of the potential consequences, saying, “Yes, Your Honour, I’m well aware.”

During the hearing, Rocky revealed that he had been carrying a prop gun on the night of the incident.
