Just a day before his birthday, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan made a heartfelt revelation about his personal life. During an informal gathering with journalists at a Mumbai hotel on Thursday, the acclaimed actor shared that he has been in a relationship with his non-celebrity girlfriend, Gauri Spratt, for the past 18 months.
According to *Hindustan Times*, Aamir, known for his iconic roles in films like *Taare Zameen Par*, requested the attendees to refrain from photographing his partner as he opened up about their relationship. The couple first met 25 years ago but lost touch over the years. They reconnected a few years back, and their bond has since grown stronger.
Proud of his ability to keep the relationship under wraps for over a year, Aamir joked, “See? I didn’t let you guys find out!”
When asked why he decided to go public with the news, the actor explained, “We are committed now, and we felt secure enough in each other to share this with you. This way, I won’t have to hide things anymore. Tomorrow, if I go for a coffee with her, you guys can join us too.”
Gauri, who previously lived in Bengaluru, is a mother to a six-year-old son and has been married before, much like Aamir. Reflecting on their connection, the actor said, “I was looking for someone who could bring me calm and peace. And there she was.”
With the news now out in the open, Aamir shared that he has taken steps to ensure Gauri’s safety and prepare her for the inevitable media attention. “I’ve tried to explain to her how it will be—the media frenzy—and prepare her for it. She isn’t used to it, but we’re hoping you all will be kind,” he said.
As for marriage, Aamir isn’t rushing into it. “We are fully committed. I’ve been married twice before, and getting married again at 60 doesn’t feel right for me. But let’s see,” he added with a smile.
Aamir was first married to film producer Reena Dutta, with whom he shares two children—social media influencer Ira Khan and actor Junaid Khan. He later married filmmaker Kiran Rao, and the couple co-parents their son, Azad Rao Khan. Aamir and Kiran continue to share a strong professional bond, having recently collaborated on the comedy-drama *Laapataa Ladies*, India’s official entry for the Oscars.
