Syrian President Praises Trump’s Sanctions Lift, Calls It a New Beginning for Syria
On Wednesday, Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa applauded US President Donald Trump’s bold move to remove longstanding sanctions on Syria, calling it a pivotal moment for the nation’s future.
In a televised speech, al-Sharaa stated, “Today marks the start of serious efforts and the beginning of Syria’s modern era.”
He referred to Trump’s decision as a courageous step that sets the stage for increased regional stability.
The president also expressed gratitude toward regional partners, especially Türkiye. He remarked, “President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has consistently supported the Syrian people, and Turkey has carried significant responsibilities throughout the past 14 years.”
Addressing the global business community, al-Sharaa issued an open invitation: “We welcome investors from around the world to explore and benefit from the many opportunities here.”
Rejecting any divisive attempts, he emphasized, “We will not allow Syria to be fragmented, nor will we tolerate narratives from the previous regime aimed at dividing our people.”
