Dar Cautions India Against Aggression, Reiterates Pakistan’s Pledge to Peace

ISLAMABAD – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has strongly denounced India’s alleged provocations, accusing it of intentionally escalating tensions in the region. He asserted that while Pakistan does not seek conflict, it remains fully prepared to defend itself against any form of aggression.

During his address at the Regional Dialogue 2025 on Monday, Dar emphasized, “Pakistan is on high alert, and should India take any hostile action, our response will be swift and resolute.” He referred to the recent incident in Pahalgam, raising concerns over the suspicious timing of the First Information Report (FIR), which was reportedly filed merely 10 minutes after the attack.

Dar firmly rejected any Pakistani involvement in the incident, alleging that India was using unfounded accusations to divert attention from growing internal unrest and widespread human rights abuses across its own territory.

He warned that India’s confrontational actions posed a serious threat to regional stability and the safety of millions. Urging global powers to take note, Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to peace and diplomacy, while making clear that any hostile act would be met with a strong response.

Touching upon the Indus Waters Treaty, Dar declared that India has no authority to unilaterally withdraw or suspend the agreement. “Not a single drop of Pakistan’s rightful share will be compromised,” he said, adding that Pakistan’s National Security Committee (NSC) had promptly convened to respond after India’s recent water-related actions. The committee warned that any attempt to divert water flows would be considered an act of war.

Dar also revealed that Indian fighter aircraft attempted to violate Pakistani airspace on the night of April 29-30 but were immediately intercepted by the Pakistan Air Force, which prevented any breach. He commended the swift response of the armed forces.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s firm stance against terrorism, Dar concluded by urging the international community to remain engaged with the worsening situation in the region, emphasizing that the Kashmir dispute must not be overlooked.
