Turkish Consulate Hosts Children’s Day Celebrations in Karachi

KARACHI:
The Turkish Consulate, in partnership with Pak-Turk Maarif Schools and Colleges, organized a series of events in Karachi to commemorate National Sovereignty and Children’s Day, as well as the 105th anniversary of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, according to an official statement released on Saturday.

During the event, Turkish Consul General Cemal Sangu highlighted that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of modern Türkiye, first declared April 23 a national holiday in 1924 — making it the only international holiday dedicated exclusively to children.

He further noted that following UNESCO’s declaration of 1979 as the “International Year of the Child,” April 23 has been embraced globally, celebrated with enthusiasm by children around the world.
