Vaibhav Suryavanshi, 14, Makes T20 History with Record-Breaking Century in IPL 2025
Fourteen-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi made history on Monday by becoming the youngest cricketer to score a century in men’s T20 cricket, leading Rajasthan Royals to a dominant eight-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL).
The teenage prodigy reached his century in just 35 balls with a six off Rashid Khan, making it the second-fastest century in IPL history and the quickest ever by an Indian player. Only Chris Gayle’s 30-ball ton in 2013 remains faster.
Suryavanshi smashed 7 boundaries and 11 sixes in his explosive 101-run innings, which ended after 38 deliveries when he was bowled. His record-breaking knock was part of a 166-run stand with Yashasvi Jaiswal, who stayed unbeaten on 70 off 40 balls, as Rajasthan chased down a challenging 210-run target in only 15.5 overs at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
Signed by Rajasthan Royals for ₹1.1 crore last year, Suryavanshi turned 14 just weeks ago. He made an impression in his debut IPL appearance earlier this month by smashing a six off his first delivery, showcasing his fearless approach once again against Gujarat.
His half-century came off just 17 balls, making it the fastest fifty in IPL history. He tore into bowlers like Ishant Sharma and Karim Janat, hammering 28 and 30 runs in single overs respectively.
The win snapped a five-game losing streak for Rajasthan and revived their slim playoff chances. Gujarat Titans, despite a strong showing from Shubman Gill (84) and Jos Buttler (50*), dropped to third place due to net run rate.
Hailing from Bihar, Suryavanshi has had a rapid rise in cricket. He made waves by scoring a century for India U-19 against Australia and even debuted in first-class cricket for Bihar at just 12 years old.
