Olivia Rodrigo Pays Tribute to Those Who Shaped Her Musical Journey
Olivia Rodrigo shared a heartfelt tribute to those who have empowered her in her pursuit of a music career, acknowledging the important figures who have influenced her confidence and fearlessness.
At the Planned Parenthood’s Spring into Action Gala, Rodrigo was honored with the Catalyst of Change Award. The event, held at Cipriani South Street in New York City, saw the “Traitor” singer express gratitude toward the people who helped shape her.
In an interview with People magazine, Olivia revealed that her mother, Jennifer Rodrigo, has been the primary source of her inner strength. “My mom is wonderful, and I know everyone says that, but I love her,” Olivia said. “She’s always encouraged me to stand up for what I believe in and follow my heart.”
Rodrigo also spoke about her admiration for British singer Lily Allen, who was at the gala to present her with the prestigious award. The two have built a connection, with Allen even joining Rodrigo on stage during her Guts World Tour stop in London in May 2024.
“Lily’s actually here tonight, and I love her so much,” Rodrigo expressed. “She’s such an inspiration to me personally and musically. She’s always pushed boundaries and spoken her truth, and I find that so empowering. I’m deeply inspired by her.”
As she accepted the Catalyst of Change Award, Rodrigo reflected on the most meaningful aspect of her music career: the bonds she’s formed with women through her work. “The greatest privilege has been the connection I’ve made with women through my music,” she shared.
