Sahibzada Farhan Makes History with Fourth T20 Century of the Year
Islamabad United’s Sahibzada Farhan etched his name in T20 cricket history on Monday by scoring his fourth century of the calendar year during a standout performance against Peshawar Zalmi in the HBL PSL 10 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Farhan’s blazing century came off just 49 deliveries, marking his maiden hundred in the Pakistan Super League. With this feat, he joins an exclusive club of T20 legends—Chris Gayle (2011), Virat Kohli (2016), Jos Buttler (2022), and Shubman Gill (2023)—as only the fifth batter to notch up four T20 centuries in a single year.
What sets him apart is that he is the first Pakistani to achieve this remarkable milestone, doing so in just nine innings.
Thanks to Farhan’s explosive knock, Islamabad United posted a formidable 243/5 after being put in to bat.
The innings began on a rocky note, with opener Andries Gous getting run out for zero by Tom Kohler-Cadmore at 9/1 in the second over. But Farhan, in partnership with Colin Munro, turned the tide swiftly with a 100-run stand that propelled the score to 128/1 by the 11th over.
Farhan’s ton equaled the record for the fastest century by an Islamabad United batter in PSL history. His electrifying 144-run partnership with Munro—who contributed 40—came to an end in the 14th over when Alzarri Joseph dismissed the New Zealander, leaving United at 153/2.
The finishing touches were provided by Jason Holder (20 not out) and Ben Dwarshuis (18 not out), who pushed the score past the 240 mark.
Farhan’s memorable innings not only placed United in a dominant position but also further cemented his rising stature in the T20 format.
