Saudi Arabia Imposes New Deadline for Umrah Visa Entry
Saudi Arabia has introduced a new travel restriction that bars Umrah visa holders from entering the Kingdom after the 15th of Shawwal, as per a directive issued by the country’s aviation authorities.
The advisory, released on Sunday, mandates that all airlines operating to and from Saudi Arabia must adhere to the updated entry rule.
Saudi Civil Aviation officials warned that non-compliance could lead to legal consequences for both airlines and travelers.
The directive clearly states that individuals with Umrah visas will not be allowed to board flights to Saudi Arabia after the 15th day of Shawwal in the Islamic calendar each year.
This move aims to manage the influx of pilgrims and maintain order as the Hajj season approaches.
“Airlines are prohibited from issuing boarding passes to Umrah visa holders intending to travel beyond this deadline,” the notice said, emphasizing that any breach would be dealt with under Saudi aviation regulations.
The decision is part of the Kingdom’s broader strategy to optimize the management of religious travel and reduce congestion at its airports during peak periods.
Airlines have also been directed to update their booking systems and inform travel agencies of the new policy. Authorities noted that the directive would be reviewed annually based on seasonal demands and operational requirements.
