Israeli Airstrike Kills 10 Members of Gaza Family

GAZA CITY:
Following the breakdown of a ceasefire last month, the United Nations reports that a series of Israeli airstrikes on Gaza have resulted in casualties consisting solely of women and children. On Friday, one such strike in southern Gaza claimed the lives of 10 members of a single family.

A report from the UN Human Rights Office further highlighted that Israel’s ongoing evacuation orders are forcing people into increasingly smaller areas. The report raised alarm over what it described as the “forcible transfer” of civilians, warning that these actions pose a serious threat to the future existence of Palestinians in Gaza.

The Israeli military stated it is investigating the airstrike in Khan Yunis that killed the family, while also confirming that around 40 “terror targets” had been hit across the region in the previous 24 hours.

Israel resumed its air campaign in Gaza on March 18, ending a two-month truce with Hamas. Since then, more than 1,500 people have been killed, according to Gaza’s health ministry. The situation has worsened due to Israel’s ongoing blockade, which has cut off aid to the enclave for over a month.
