Pakistan Issues Visas to Over 6,500 Indian Pilgrims for Baisakhi Festival

Pakistan has issued over 6,500 visas to Indian Sikh pilgrims for the upcoming Baisakhi celebrations, scheduled to take place from April 10 to 19. The visas were granted by the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi as part of a goodwill initiative to support religious tourism and foster cross-border cultural ties.

During their visit, the pilgrims are expected to pay homage at several significant Sikh religious sites, including Gurdwara Panja Sahib, Gurdwara Nankana Sahib, and Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib.

Speaking on the occasion, Charge d’Affaires Saad Ahmad Warraich emphasized that the move reflects Pakistan’s commitment to encouraging interfaith harmony and building bridges between diverse communities. He reiterated that Pakistan remains dedicated to facilitating access to religious sites for pilgrims from across the border.

These visits are part of a long-standing arrangement under the Pakistan-India Protocol on Visits to Religious Shrines, signed in 1974, which allows citizens of both nations to visit each other’s sacred places on specific religious occasions.
