UGA Student Lily Stewart’s Viral Mugshot Takes Internet by Storm

Lily Stewart, a 20-year-old University of Georgia student, has become an internet sensation after her cheerful mugshot went viral following a speeding arrest.

Stewart, who is a member of the Alpha Chi sorority, was pulled over on March 8 in Morgan County for driving 75 mph in a 55 mph zone. After receiving a ticket, she unintentionally began speeding again, reaching 84 mph, which led to her arrest.

The Morgan County Crime page shared her mugshot online, and it quickly gained widespread attention. Social media users flooded the post with comments, dubbing her “Miss America” and humorously urging Georgia Governor Brian Kemp to pardon her. Some even offered to pay her bail, with one user joking, “Guilty of stealing my heart, your honor.”

Despite the online frenzy, Stewart’s attorney, Stephen Morris, successfully had the speeding charge dismissed, citing the harassment she faced due to the viral mugshot. However, Stewart will still complete community service and a defensive driving course as part of the legal resolution.

Amused by the internet’s reaction, Stewart told *The New York Post* that she doesn’t fully understand the hype. “I just took a mugshot and went on with my day,” she said, explaining that her polished appearance was because she was on her way to a friend’s birthday party.

As the online debate over her “hot mugshot” continues, Stewart remains unfazed, laughing off the attention while fulfilling the remaining legal obligations.
