Pakistan Railways starts making train coaches locally.

Pakistan Railways has started making new train coaches in the country with the help of technology transferred from China. The government is now producing high-speed passenger coaches and cargo wagons at workshops in Lahore and Islamabad.

Chinese experts have trained Pakistan Railways engineers to build these modern rail components locally. In the next three years, the Pakistan Railways Carriage Factory in Islamabad plans to assemble 184 new passenger coaches, improving the country’s rail system.

This development is part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects, which include upgrades to roads, railways, and economic zones. China is also helping Pakistan modernize the Main Line-1 (ML-1) railway, which connects Karachi to Peshawar, as part of a $6.8 billion project.
