The Senate Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis discussed concerns about UAE visa restrictions but clarified there is no complete ban on visas for Pakistani nationals.
During the meeting, Senator Zeeshan Khanzada and other officials talked about the UAEβs policies. The Secretary of the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis explained that while demand for unskilled labor has dropped, there are no restrictions on skilled workers, especially in Dubai.
He added that around 700,000 workers have gone abroad this year and stressed the importance of training more skilled workers for overseas jobs.
Senator Khanzada raised concerns about agents meeting all visa requirements, yet many visas still being denied. He urged authorities to provide updates and suggested inviting Overseas Employment Promoters (OEPs) to future discussions for better oversight.
The Foreign Office and the UAE Consul General in Karachi both confirmed there is no full visa ban, emphasizing that visas are issued based on UAE policies.
Despite improvements, Pakistani nationals still face challenges in the visa process, which remains a priority in discussions between the two governments.
