PM Shehbaz Unveils Rs20 Billion Ramazan Relief Package for 4 Million Families

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday introduced a Rs20 billion Ramazan relief initiative to assist four million underprivileged families, ultimately benefiting around 20 million people nationwide.

During the launch event, the prime minister announced that each eligible family would receive Rs5,000 through digital wallets within the first ten days of Ramazan. He highlighted that this year’s allocation marks a significant increase from the previous year’s Rs7 billion relief fund.

PM Shehbaz acknowledged the efforts of the State Bank of Pakistan, Nadra, BISP, and technology firms in developing a transparent and efficient digital distribution system. He also extended his appreciation to international partners for their support.

Reaffirming his government’s commitment to combating corruption, the premier cited a recent Rs23 billion recovery following a Sindh High Court ruling. He also announced plans to privatize the Utility Stores Corporation due to reported financial mismanagement and pledged to shut down loss-making state institutions.

Addressing national security concerns, PM Shehbaz strongly condemned the recent attack on Maulana Hamid ul Haq, calling it a tragic event, and vowed to strengthen efforts against terrorism in collaboration with security forces.

As part of the relief efforts, 600 stalls will be established at the tehsil level to offer subsidized sugar at Rs130 per kg, ensuring affordability for the masses during the holy month.
