Nine Killed in Bus-Fuel Truck Collision in Iran

At least nine people were killed on Monday when a bus crashed into a fuel truck in southeastern Iran, according to state media. The accident also left 13 others injured. The crash occurred near Zahedan in Sistan-Baluchestan province.

This follows a similar incident on Saturday, where 10 people died when a bus fell into a ravine in Iran’s Lorestan province.

Iran has a poor road safety record, with over 20,000 deaths in road accidents reported between March 2023 and March 2024. Earlier this year, 28 Pakistani pilgrims were killed in a bus crash in central Iran.

Sistan-Baluchestan, one of Iran’s poorest provinces, has seen several deadly accidents in the past, including one in 2004 when a gasoline tanker collided with a bus, killing more than 70 people.
