Michael Kors Concludes New York Fashion Week with Layered Elegance
NEW YORK:
Michael Kors wrapped up New York Fashion Week’s Fall/Winter 2025 showcase on Tuesday, closing out six days of fashion presentations featuring nearly 60 designers.
Renowned for blending practicality with luxury, Kors introduced his latest collection with a concept he described as “throwaway chic.”
“I love the idea of effortless elegance—style that is comfortable, mobile, and relaxed. The French call it ‘dégagé,’ which embodies the essence of throwaway chic. This season, you’ll see what I like to call warm modernism,” Kors explained.
Models graced the runway in a variety of ensembles, including draped wool coats, supple leather dresses, and flowing silk blouses. The designs exuded sophistication while maintaining a sense of ease, offering a refined take on power dressing that moves away from the recent trend of revealing silhouettes.
“It’s a more covered-up collection,” Kors noted. “We’ve reached the limits of minimal coverage—now it’s about embracing sensuality in a different way. Movement itself can be sexy. The way fabric flows, how it catches the breeze—that’s what makes an outfit captivating.”
Other standout moments from the week included Wes Gordon’s vibrant floral-themed collection for Carolina Herrera, inspired by the film Being There, and Christian Siriano’s automotive-inspired designs featuring metallic textiles.
Sergio Hudson also made a statement, dedicating his collection to victims of the Los Angeles wildfires. He combined everyday fashion with haute couture elements, showcasing pleated denim skirts and chunky cashmere knits.
