Trump Claims Musk Will Help Expose U.S. Government Fraud

Washington, D.C. – Former President Donald Trump has stated that Elon Musk will play a crucial role in identifying and eliminating “hundreds of billions of dollars” in fraud and waste within federal agencies.

In an interview with Fox News, set to air before the Super Bowl, Trump emphasized that Americans expect him to cut unnecessary government spending. He praised Musk, calling him “a great help” in exposing inefficiencies.

Cost-Cutting Initiatives Under Musk’s Leadership

Since taking office, Trump has signed multiple executive orders aimed at reducing federal spending. As part of these efforts, Musk—CEO of SpaceX and Tesla—was appointed to head the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a new entity dedicated to identifying and eliminating wasteful expenditures.

“We’re going to uncover billions, even hundreds of billions of dollars in fraud and misuse,” Trump said in interview excerpts released by Fox News.

Controversy and Legal Challenges

Despite aggressive cost-cutting measures, the administration has yet to provide substantial evidence of widespread illegal fraud within the government.

Musk’s leadership has already led to the closure of USAID, resulting in thousands of job losses. Additionally, concerns have arisen over DOGE’s access to personal and financial data through the U.S. Treasury, sparking legal challenges.

On Friday, a federal judge temporarily halted the administration’s plan to place 2,200 USAID employees on leave. The following day, another judge issued an emergency order blocking DOGE from accessing Treasury Department payment systems, citing privacy concerns.

Next Targets: Education and Military Spending

Trump revealed that his next focus will be the Department of Education, often criticized by Republicans for excessive spending. He also reaffirmed his intention to review Pentagon expenditures, which amount to approximately $850 billion annually.

“This is what the American people elected me to do,” Trump asserted, vowing to continue his efforts to streamline government spending.
