Jackie Chan Receives Standing Ovation at Critics Choice Awards 2025
Jackie Chan was warmly welcomed at the 2025 Critics Choice Awards, where he made a rare public appearance on February 7.
The 70-year-old martial arts legend took the stage to present the award for Best Foreign Language Film, receiving an enthusiastic standing ovation from the audience. Host Chelsea Handler introduced him with a lighthearted remark, calling him “a sexual icon.”
As the Rush Hour star stepped onto the stage, the applause continued, visibly moving him. Overwhelmed by the warm reception, he simply said, “Thank you, wow!” His speech was briefly interrupted by an excited fan, to which Chan playfully responded, “Quiet, let me remember my dialogue.”
He then delivered a heartfelt message about the universal power of cinema, saying, “Tonight, we celebrate movies. They remind us that no matter where we come from or what our backgrounds are, we all laugh, cry, and enjoy too much popcorn in the same way.”
The award for Best Foreign Language Film went to Emilia PΓ©rez. Upon accepting the honor, director Jacques Audiard expressed his excitement, saying, “It’s an incredible day. I just received an award from Jackie ChanβI feel like I’ve died and gone to Heaven!”
