Nasser Javed Rana, the accountability court judge who handed down the sentence to PTI leader Imran Khan in the £190 million case, has been reassigned, according to Express News.
The transfer notification was issued under the guidance of Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Amir Farooq. Judge Rana will now serve as the District Session Judge for Islamabad West.
The official notification was released after Chief Justice Farooq’s approval, with the Registrar of the Islamabad High Court overseeing the process. Before this, Justice Azam Khan held the role of District and Session Judge before being promoted to the High Court. After Justice Khan’s elevation, Zeba Chaudhry temporarily assumed the position of session judge.
This shift has garnered attention, especially given its timing following the high-profile sentencing of Imran Khan in the significant case.
