Tesla Introduces Robot Vacuum Cleaner for Robotaxi Service

Tesla has unveiled a groundbreaking “robot vacuum cleaner” designed to clean the interiors of its upcoming robotaxi fleet, showcasing its commitment to a fully autonomous ride-hailing experience.

In a newly released video, the automated vacuum efficiently clears debris, including crumbs, empty bottles, and dust, from a Model Y robotaxi, demonstrating Tesla’s progress in automation.

This innovation comes as Elon Musk recently announced that Tesla’s robotaxi service is set to launch in Austin, Texas, this summer. During the company’s fourth-quarter earnings call, Musk confirmed that fully autonomous Teslas would begin operating without drivers by June.

Currently, Tesla runs thousands of vehicles with unsupervised Full Self-Driving (FSD) at its Fremont, California, factory and plans to expand trials to other locations worldwide. A video released by the company also shows Model Y vehicles autonomously navigating a 1.2-mile route from the Fremont factory to its loading docks.

Musk remains optimistic that unsupervised FSD will be deployed across multiple U.S. cities by the end of 2025, with a broader rollout across North America anticipated in 2026. While the final design of Tesla’s dedicated robotaxi remains unclear, the company has already introduced the Cybercab, expected to enter production in 2026.
