The parade celebrated the 76th Republic Day, marking the adoption of India’s post-independence constitution in 1950. The event took place along a renovated colonial-era boulevard, home to key government buildings.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a message on social media, emphasizing the importance of preserving the ideals of India’s Constitution and working towards a stronger, prosperous nation.
The colorful and meticulously choreographed parade showcased India’s missile systems, fighter jets, motorbike stunts, and state-themed floats. An Indonesian military marching unit also participated in the spectacle.
This yearβs Republic Day coincided with Prabowo’s two-day state visit to India, marking his first official visit since becoming president in 2024. Modi expressed pride in Indonesia’s historical role as the guest nation during India’s first Republic Day celebration, with both leaders highlighting the deepening ties between the two countries.
India and Indonesia signed several agreements on health, maritime security, and digital technology, with both leaders emphasizing their close relationship. Modi also mentioned the strengthening of defense cooperation, including joint defense manufacturing and supply chain efforts. Prabowo announced plans to send a high-level defense delegation soon.
