Drew Barrymore Opens Up About Divorce from Will Kopelman

Drew Barrymore has opened up about her 2016 divorce from Will Kopelman, reflecting on the challenges she faced following their separation after four years of marriage. In an interview for the February/March 2025 issue of AARP The Magazine, the 49-year-old actress shared her journey of coping with the end of her marriage, emphasizing how it ultimately helped her become a better mother to her two daughters, Olive, 12, and Frankie, 10.

Barrymore acknowledged the emotional difficulty of watching her “dream family” fall apart, admitting the overwhelming sadness and confusion she felt during that time. Despite maturing early in life, she struggled with the heaviness of the situation and questioned how to process the intense emotions.

“Eventually, I lifted myself out of it,” she said. “I had two kids and I had to figure it out.”

Since the divorce, both Barrymore and Kopelman have prioritized a positive co-parenting relationship. Despite his remarriage to Alexandra Michler in August 2021, Barrymore has spoken fondly of their family dynamic, praising the ability to maintain a harmonious and healthy connection.

In a 2022 conversation with People, she expressed, “We’ve got an awesome family dynamic that proves that life goes on. I love us all being together.”
