Christopher Abbott unleashes a terrifying new chapter in ‘Wolf Man’

Christopher Abbott, renowned for his compelling roles in both film and television, recently shared his intense experience while filming Wolf Man. The actor described the process as both terrifying and transformative, pushing him far beyond his usual acting comfort zone.

In Wolf Man, Abbott tackles the daunting task of transforming into a fearsome monster. He is joined by Julia Garner and newcomer Matilda Frith, both of whom contribute their talents to the film.

To fully immerse himself in the role, Abbott had to endure hours of meticulous makeup application to achieve the monster’s look. He humorously noted, “There’s a lot of sugar in that blood stuff,” referring to the fake blood used in the film. He also recalled one particular scene where he gnaws on his own leg, admitting, “It’s scary, but also ridiculous.”

Abbott explained that the role required unusual research, saying, “For the first time, I had to look into more National Geographic-type material than for other films.” As the process of becoming the character unfolded, he noted the shifting balance of his portrayal, which began as “80 percent human, 20 percent animal” before transforming further.

Despite the fear that came with the role, Abbott found the entire experience rewarding. He described it as a “real eye-opener,” one that left a lasting impression on him.
