BCCI comments on Rohit Sharma’s anticipated visit to Pakistan

To clarify the rumors surrounding the potential visit of Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma to Pakistan ahead of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, BCCI’s newly-elected secretary, Devajit Saikia, confirmed that no such proposal had been received by the board.

Earlier reports from Indian media suggested that Sharma might visit Pakistan for events leading up to the tournament, including an all-captains photo shoot and a press conference where captains would share their expectations for the event. The tournament will feature eight participating teams, with all captains attending the event organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

However, Saikia clarified that the BCCI had not received any proposals regarding this matter, and it had not been discussed with the ICC. He emphasized the sensitivity of the situation, stating that India needs to find a balanced solution given Pakistan’s hosting role.

The ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 is scheduled from February 19 to March 9, with matches taking place in three cities in Pakistan—Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi—as well as in Dubai. The tournament will feature 15 matches, and teams have been divided into two groups.

India’s fixtures in the tournament are as follows:

  • February 20: Bangladesh vs India in Dubai
  • February 23: Pakistan vs India in Dubai
  • March 2: New Zealand vs India in Dubai
