The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are facing a new financial challenge as their Archewell Foundation raised significantly less than Prince William’s Earthshot Prize. In the latest financial report, The Earthshot Prize raised £23.5 million, while Archewell Foundation garnered only £4.67 million during the same period.
This sharp contrast highlights the differences in financial support for the two foundations over the past year. Earthshot’s income saw substantial growth, with donations up by 68% from the previous year, including a large one-time donation of £8.6 million from The Royal Foundation.
The American Friends of The Royal Foundation made a significant contribution, increasing its donation to £6.1 million, surpassing Archewell’s total income.
In comparison, Archewell’s £4.67 million included a notable £3.9 million from a single donor and an additional £260,000 from five other individuals. This marks a key moment for the foundation, which was established in 2020 after the Sussexes stepped down from royal duties.
