Aubrey Plaza is mourning the sudden loss of her husband, Jeff Baena, who passed away at the age of 47 on January 3rd, 2024.
The actress, known for her role in The White Lotus, has issued her first statement since the tragic news broke. Through her representative, she expressed her grief and gratitude for the support received: “This is an unimaginable tragedy. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time.”
Baena, a respected writer and director, was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities. The medical examiner confirmed his death was by suicide.
Baena had an extensive career, with his directorial debut being Life After Beth, a zombie comedy that starred Plaza. It was on this project that the two likely met.
Plaza, 40, and Baena had been in a relationship for 14 years, beginning in 2011, and married in 2020. It wasn’t until 2021 that Plaza publicly referred to Baena as her “darling husband” in an Instagram post, revealing their marriage to the public.
