Aubrey Plaza paid tribute to her “darling husband” Jeff Baena in what appears to be her final public Instagram post with him, just before his sudden passing on Friday.
In May 2021, Plaza announced her marriage to the filmmaker, celebrating Baena’s work on the 2022 film Spin Me Round. The post included pictures of the couple sharing a tender moment on set. Plaza expressed her pride, saying, “So proud of my darling husband @jeffbaena for dreaming up another film that takes us to Italia to cause some more trouble.”
Baena was found dead at his Los Angeles home on Friday morning. Authorities responded to a call around 10:30 a.m. for a death investigation and confirmed his death at the scene. Sources later revealed to TMZ that Baena’s passing was a result of suicide, a detail that was later verified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Baena’s family issued a statement expressing their devastation and requesting privacy during this difficult time.
Plaza and Baena secretly wed in 2020 after a decade of dating. They did not have children. The couple’s marriage was initially a lighthearted decision made during the COVID-19 lockdown, as Plaza shared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show later that year.
