New Cold Wave Expected to Impact Karachi and Rural Sindh Starting This Weekend

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned of a new cold wave that will affect Karachi and rural Sindh starting January 4. The cold wave is expected to bring strong winds and a significant drop in temperature, with the mercury potentially reaching as low as 6°C.

The PMD’s Early Warning Centre reported that a western weather system has entered northern Balochistan and western regions of the country, which will influence weather conditions in the upcoming days. From January 4 to 5, light rain and drizzle are predicted in various rural Sindh districts, including Qamber Shahdadkot, Larkana, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Kashmore, and Sukkur.

The temperature in Karachi and much of Sindh is forecast to drop by 4 to 7°C during the cold wave. Karachi may also experience gusty winds on Saturday. On Thursday, the city’s minimum temperature was recorded at 13.5°C, marking a slight increase of 1.5°C compared to the previous day, while the maximum temperature reached 28°C.
