Hilarie Burton shared an update on the much-anticipated One Tree Hill reboot during a recent interview with People magazine, published on January 1. The actress revealed that the project is still in its preliminary stages, with the team working to pitch it to Netflix. The streaming giant will ultimately decide whether the reboot gets the green light.
Burton, 42, emphasized the importance of fans expressing their enthusiasm for the project. She also mentioned her vision for the reboot, hoping to create a show that families can enjoy together, just like the original series. She highlighted that One Tree Hill was special because it provided a platform for parents and children to discuss difficult topics together.
The reboot, set 20 years after the original, is expected to follow characters Brooke (Sophia Bush) and Peyton (Burton) as they navigate the challenges of parenting, love, loss, and insecurities. Burton praised the showβs writer and showrunner, Becky Hartman Edwards, for her ability to craft compelling, multi-generational stories. Burton expressed confidence in the direction of the project.
Although Burton, Bush, and Daneel Ackles, who are executive producers on the reboot, first teased the idea in August 2024, Burton stressed that the project is still in its early phases.
