Aseefa Bhutto Calls on Public to Refrain from Aerial Firing on New Year’s Eve

As the nation prepares to ring in the new year, First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari is urging the public to refrain from the hazardous practice of aerial firing, which has often turned celebrations into tragic events.

Aseefa, the daughter of former President Asif Ali Zardari, initiated an awareness campaign on social media, using hashtags #CelebrateResponsibly and #SayNoToAerialFiring. She emphasized the importance of a safer approach to celebrating the arrival of 2025.

In her post, Aseefa wrote, “When welcoming the New Year, remember to #CelebrateResponsibly. Aerial firing is not just reckless—it’s deadly. A single stray bullet can end an innocent life and turn a joyous occasion into a senseless tragedy.”

The campaign has received widespread praise from social media users, garnering significant engagement with likes and shares.

Sindh Minister Sharjeel Memon also supported Aseefa’s call, urging citizens to celebrate responsibly and reassuring the public that the government is enforcing strict measures to prevent aerial firing. He called on everyone to cooperate with authorities to ensure a safe and secure environment during the celebrations.

In Karachi, local authorities have imposed Section 144, banning the possession of firearms, aerial firing, and fireworks for two days. They have warned of strict action against violators.

Karachi Police have also issued a stern warning, stating that individuals found engaging in celebratory firing will face charges, including attempted murder.
