AI Poised to Transform Industries

KARACHI: Artificial intelligence (AI) is driving a technological revolution across all sectors, reshaping business models, enhancing industry competition, and transforming both public and private organizations, according to experts and AI coaches.

Speaking to The Express Tribune on Saturday, they highlighted how emerging technologies such as AI, cloud computing, and big data are significantly altering the technological landscape. While traditional industrialists are captivated by AI’s potential benefits—such as cost-efficiency and streamlined operations using AI-powered software—these technologies are gaining traction rapidly, particularly in Western countries where AI software is gradually replacing traditional intelligence tools.

Khawaja Fahad Shakeel, a leading AI strategist and CEO of Workforce Commerce, explained that AI-driven programs are tailored to specific industries, organizations, and fields. For example, AI can assist in generating accurate data for budgeting and project management while preventing inefficiencies and corruption in public sector organizations. In sectors like agriculture, AI ensures effective soil testing; in healthcare, it helps manage Electronic Medical Records (EMRs); in the hospitality industry, AI minimizes food waste and optimizes delivery systems; and in manufacturing, it improves resource utilization.

“Old data is vital for creating AI-based solutions for any organization. Accessing AI technology is becoming increasingly easy, and soon, everything will rely on AI globally,” Shakeel stated.

Syed Azfar Hussain, IT analyst and Project Director of the National Incubation Centre (NIC) Karachi, added that AI’s accessibility and usability are poised to transform industries just as satellite television, personal computers, the internet, and smartphones did in previous decades. He referred to AI’s emergence as a “video that killed the radio star” moment, marking a major shift in technology and business. AI’s capacity to process and analyze vast amounts of data allows businesses to make faster, smarter decisions, streamline operations, and uncover new growth opportunities.

“We’re already seeing AI-driven analytics revolutionizing industries. Companies like Amazon and Alibaba are fine-tuning their supply chains, predicting demand patterns with incredible accuracy. In healthcare, institutions such as the NHS in the UK and Mayo Clinic in the US are leveraging AI to enhance diagnostics and personalize treatments for patients,” Hussain explained.

Cloud computing is further democratizing access to advanced technologies, enabling startups and small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) to scale operations without hefty infrastructure investments. Platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud are making these technologies available to businesses of all sizes.

Simultaneously, big data provides unprecedented insights into consumer behavior, market trends, and internal efficiencies, helping companies stay agile and competitive in dynamic markets. Hussain emphasized that companies embracing agile methodologies will be the first to capitalize on the combined power of big data and cloud computing. For instance, Tesla integrates AI and big data analytics into its production cycles, enabling rapid innovation. Similarly, fintech startups like Stripe and Revolut are using cloud platforms to swiftly develop and launch new products. This technological shift is transformative for entrepreneurs, reducing the time and resources typically needed for product development and enabling faster market entry.

Mehboob Shar, an eminent SEO expert and IT coach, as well as the Founder and CEO of Icreativez Technologies, remarked, “As a tech CEO, I strongly believe AI is set to revolutionize our industry.” He emphasized that every tech tool, software solution, or IT-enabled product will require AI integration to unlock its full potential and reach peak efficiency. Shar also pointed out that cloud computing has proven its capability to secure data while providing on-demand access to crucial server resources. Furthermore, big data plays a vital role in extracting valuable insights.

“For instance, we recently developed logistics software for one of our Icreativez Europe clients. The government is now providing a grant to integrate AI into this software, recognizing its potential to optimize logistics and boost economic growth. This highlights the transformative power of AI across industries,” Shar explained.

He also noted the evolving role of AI in the workforce. As AI automates many tasks currently performed by entry-level employees, it is expected that those roles will require higher skill levels and expertise in the future.
