21 Pakistanis Among 36 Survivors of Atlantic Boat Tragedy

ISLAMABAD:The Foreign Office confirmed on Sunday that 21 Pakistani nationals survived a tragic boat accident in the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Morocco. The incident, which occurred last week, resulted in the deaths of at least 50 people, including several Pakistanis.

The boat, which had set sail from Mauritania on January 2, was carrying 86 migrants, including 66 Pakistanis. Moroccan authorities successfully rescued 36 individuals after the wreck on Wednesday. The Foreign Office verified that 21 of the survivors were Pakistani nationals.

The survivors were safely transported to the coastal town of Dakhla in a maritime operation. The Pakistani embassy and government have remained in contact with Moroccan authorities to ensure the well-being of the survivors and provide necessary assistance.

The embassy in Rabat is offering aid such as food, water, medical supplies, and clothing to the survivors. Medical teams are also on the ground to support the relief efforts. A consular team from the embassy is in Dakhla, coordinating with local authorities to manage the ongoing response.

The Foreign Office also indicated that arrangements for repatriation are being finalized in close coordination with Moroccan authorities. A list of the survivors was released, which includes: Muddassir Hussain, Waseem Khalid, Muhammad Khaliq, Abdul Ghaffar, Gul Shameer, Tanveer Ahmed, Syed Muhammad Abbas Kazmi, Ghulam Mustafa, Syed Badar Mohyuddin, Imran Iqbal, Shoaib Zafar, Ali Hassan, Syed Mehtabul Hassan, Uzair Basharat, Mohammad Asif, Mujahid Ali, Amir Ali, Mohammad Umar Farooqie, Bilawal Iqbal, Arsalan, and Irfan Ahmad.
